Around New Year’s Day each year, we issue our predictions for the top eLearning trends of the coming year. In the past, we’ve plotted these predictions through dead reckoning – relying on our experience living, eating, and breathing online learning all day, every day. But for 2020, we come armed with #data.

The eLearning Hype Curve Predictions is a visualization of what’s “trending” in eLearning, built using the Gartner Hype Cycle theory.
The Gartner theory holds that technologies emerge with little initial recognition and grow in familiarty unil they reach their maximum “hype”. It discusses the rise in hype at five points – Innovation Trigger, Peak of Inflated Expectations, Trough of Disillusionment, Slope of Enlightenment, and Plateau of Productivity.
