Society of Interventional Radiology
The Society of Interventional Radiology needed a way to deliver their Residency Essentials curriculum to universities and hospitals in a simple, scalable, and efficient manner.
The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) is a nonprofit, professional medical society representing more than 8,000 practicing interventional radiology physicians, trainees, medical students, scientists and clinical associates, including physician assistants, nurse practitioners, radiologic technologists and paramedical professionals.
The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has developed a strategic plan for producing a curriculum designed for interventional radiology residents, called Residency Essentials. It’s a two year online program that would provide a significant share of online training materials. Universities or health organizations such as hospitals could adopt the curriculum into their own instructional programs.
The big challenge was setting up the program to enable organizations to make it available to their individual students. SIR wanted each organization to brand the self-study curriculum as its own so that when a student participated in the online program, they would see their institution-specific logo and get a personalized welcome message. Another challenge was ensuring that the SIR staff had minimum administrative effort despite the number of institutions accessing the course.
“It’s really easy (setting up and managing), the sub-portals. I assign the course to the portal, and then anybody that logs in who’s assigned to that portal gets the course automatically. Any updates we do, it’s automatic. Very simple, but very useful.”
With CourseStage LMS, the Society of Interventional Radiology was able to
Tight Integration. Behind the scenes, the LMS is taking care of a whole bunch of operations.
Easy Setup. According to SIR Senior Manager of Online Education, Elizabeth Nicholson, “Setup of a new sub-portal takes about two hours. It’s really easy.”
Simple Sub-portal Management. Managing the high number of subportals (96 at last count) is a simple matter.
By leveraging CourseStage Health LMS’s sub-portal feature, the Society of Interventional Radiology was able to have:
Fully Customizable learning portals
central control with delegated access
efficient reporting for each institution
reduced data risk
increased non-dues revenue
