In 2020, associations were forced to consider offering virtual events in lieu of in-person conferences. While many organizations attempted to “replicate the conference experience,” the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities took a strategic backward design approach, involving internal and external stakeholders to reimagine its first fully virtual experience. We also knew that strategically, the Alliance needed to present content with a focus on learning rather than information. Putting all of these various factors together, we partnered with Web Courseworks to develop a virtual experience that simulates an idealized community of the future – presenting a variety of on-demand and live learning experiences over a five week period.
